Brian’s RED FM Appearance

The story of Brian and Alfie Kinsale Wellness on Water: after 41 years working at sea, Brian (the founder) retired. Following his retirement, Brian couldn’t keep away from the water and spent a year working with the Department of the Marine so that his boat would be compliant with licensing to carry 10 passengers. With that he decided to begin trips navigating the Bandon river and Kinsale harbour under the watchful eye of his first mate (dog) Alfie. The excursion includes fishing mackerel, lobster, sightseeing, interacting with wildlife (birds, seals, otters, porpoise & dolphins) onboard Brian’s boat, the Maryrose.

Story 1: in 1947 at 17 years of age Bruce came to Kinsale with his parents. They built a house on the Bandon river but left 3 years later in 1950. 73 years later, Bruce returned with his daughter and together they located his house hidden in the reeds of the river bank with Kinsale Wellness on Water – what a beautiful experience to be involved in.

Story 2: (From the Pot to the Plate) A lovely American family on an excursion had told Brian that they would be eating in the Man Friday Restaurant Kinsale that evening. During the excursion, Brian was checking his lobster pot and they realised they had caught a large lobster. Brian called the Man Fridays accommodating owner Daniel Horgan and asked if it would be possible for him to cook up the lobster caught by the American family for their dinner that night.
